“… anti-depressants interfere with the brain’s natural self-regulation of serotonin and other neurotransmitters, and the brain can overcorrect once medication is suspended, triggering new depression.”
Well, that’s a thought that’s going to fester.
Well I smell fucking shenanigans. I hate pieces like this I really do. I. Cannot. Function. Without. Medication. I do not need some piece telling me that I’m going to make my self relapse and it’s all my fault for taking medication THAT HELPS ME FUNCTION. I hate this “drugz r evil!!!1!” bullshit that people spout. It actively works at making thoughts sit in your head, helping them become thoughts of low self worth - low self worth already being a horrific part of being depressed/ anxious anyways.
Andrews says anti-depressants interfere with the brain’s natural self-regulation of serotonin and other neurotransmitters, and that the brain can overcorrect once medication is suspended, triggering new depression.
Good for fucking Andrew’s. I can assure him that my brain doesn’t self regulate the stuff anyways - I am always going to have periods of breaking down. I’d rather be medicated and stave them off for as long as possible.
I’m not saying that medication is the magic cure all and I’m all for other people trying other stuff like councilling and healthy eating. But can we please not increase the feeling of worthlessness that festers in us already, because of the stigma around mental health medication? Seriously, fucking people.

I think medication can be a lifesaver when prescribed and used correctly, but I don’t think the multiple random drugs thrown at me by GPs (who have admitted it’s not their ‘area of specialism’) over the years have done me any favours, long term.
